چکیده

K ABSTRACT: The aim of this work was to investigate the possible influence of the recently described CT60 A/G dimorphism of the CTLA4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4) gene in the susceptibility to two different autoimmune inflammatory intestinal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and celiac disease. We analyzed a case-control cohort composed of 528 Spanish patients with IBD (284 with Crohn disease and 244 with ulcerative colitis) and 454 unrelated healthy individuals, and additionally a group of 90 celiac disease families. CT60 genotyping was performed with a TaqMan 5= allelic discrimination assay. After comparing patients with IBD with the control population, we found no significant n

CTLA4CT60 gene polymorphism is not associated with differential susceptibility to pemphigus foliaceus

Pemphigus foliaceus is an organ-specific autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibodies against the extracellular region of desmoglein 1, a protein that mediates intercellular adhesion in desmosomes. Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) is a key negative regulator of the T cell immune response, playing an important role in T cell homeostasis and maintenance of peripheral tol...

Association of Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen 4 (CTLA4) and Thyroglobulin (TG) Genetic Variants with Autoimmune Hypothyroidism

Autoimmune hypothyroidism is known to be caused by immune responses related to the thyroid gland and its immunological feature includes presence of autoimmune antibodies. Therefore the aim was to analyze presence of anti-TPO antibodies in hypothyroidism patients in Gujarat. Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen 4 (CTLA4) is one of the susceptibility genes for various autoimmune diseases. Hence, exon1 ...

Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte-Associated Antigen 4 Gene Polymorphisms and Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases: An Updated Systematic Review and Cumulative Meta-Analysis

The association of the cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) gene and susceptibility to autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITDs) has been studied extensively. However, the results were not the same in different ethnic groups. We updated the meta-analysis of association of CTLA-4 gene polymorphisms with AITDs and summarized the results in specific ethnicity. The associations of A49G ge...

Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte Associated Antigen-4 (CTLA-4) Polymorphism, Cancer, and Autoimmune Diseases

Immune system dysfunction is one of the key features in onset and development of cancer and autoimmunity. Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-antigen-4 (CTLA-4), as a leader immune checkpoint plays a crucial effects in the regulation of immune suppression and tolerance. In this review, role of CTLA-4 and its three important polymorphisms (SNP), CTLA-4 +49A/G, CTLA-4 CT60 A/G and CTLA-4 −318C/T in developmen...

Variants of the CTLA4 gene that segregate with autoimmune diseases are not associated with endometriosis.

An autoimmune etiology has been suggested for endometriosis mostly on the basis of an increased prevalence of autoimmune diseases in affected women. Cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen (CTLA) 4 gene is recognized as a primary determinant for autoimmunity since specific polymorphisms have been associated with predisposition to most autoimmune disorders. This study was aimed to evaluate whether two va...
